Hiring: Implementation Evaluator (part-time)
The Center for Implementation is excited to share that we are looking to hire a part-time Implementation Evaluator (10 hours a week). This position is open to PhD students who are looking to gain experience that will set the course for a non-academic career.
About the position
The primary focus of this position is on evaluating implementation practice. This includes developing evaluation plans, developing evaluation materials such as data collection tools, and analyzing and compiling data. In addition, the part-time associate would have the opportunity to work on supporting other aspects of implementation practice as needed by TCI’s clients: Examples include working on implementation guides, readiness reports, supporting the development of training materials, and supporting the development of implementation tools. The successful candidate will also be expected to have excellent written communication skills. Given that we are a small business, some administrative work would also fall within the purview of this position.
This position provides unique opportunities to engage in projects that are on the forefront of implementation practice. TCI is one of the few organizations that support the spread and scale up of evidence-based programs and practices across a wide range of organizations (e.g., we are currently supporting 3 organizations implementing programs in 10 to 50 sites across Canada). The successful candidate will: work with organizational stakeholders on large-scale implementation projects; gain practical experience applying the many theories, models, and frameworks that are foundational to implementation science; gain diverse experience supporting implementation projects in multiple contexts (e.g., hospitals, long-term care, home care); and have the opportunity to attend implementation training events.
Qualifications of the position
o Current student in a PhD program who is on track for a non-academic career, and would like experience working on large-scale implementation projects.
o Some experience working on implementation projects is an asset
o Adaptable to client needs and project timelines
o Comfort working in a fast-paced environment
o Can work well independently
o Excellent written and oral communication skills
o Curious, with a passion for ongoing learning
About the Center for Implementation
The Center for Implementation (TCI) supports organizations and teams that are looking to build capacity in implementation and knowledge translation (KT), embed implementation science (IS) in their organizational processes, and/or implement evidence-based practices. Our mission is to accelerate the application of implementation science to improve outcomes. At TCI, we aim to apply implementation science in a way that makes sense to organizations to ensure that their change efforts have a positive impact on the health system. Our services include:
1. Tailored Workshops, covering the full spectrum of implementation (e.g., barriers and facilitators, readiness, adapting to the local context, planning for sustainability).
2. Organizational Support. We conduct organizational scans to understand an organization’s unique needs and goals and collaborate to develop a sustainable IS/KT organizational strategy.
3. Implementation Coaching, to support projects at multiple stages: when developing an implementation plan; once implementation has started, but it is not going as planned; and when implementation was successful and the next steps are sustainability, spread, and scale up.
We are "topic agnostic", meaning the stakeholders are content area experts and we bring the practical implementation science expertise. We have experience working on embedding implementation science in a range of topics including public health, healthcare, mental health, prevention science, education, and juvenile justice. We work with multiple types of organizations and agencies at local, provincial, and national levels.
We are a small, but strong team, including a Senior Director, a Senior Consultant, a part-time Project Coordinator, and a part-time Writer/Editor. We work in a virtual office environment. Therefore, we are open to students across Canada (although preference would be given to a student in Ontario).
To apply, please submit a cover letter and resume or CV to firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the cover letter, please include answers to the following questions:
1) Why would you like to work for the Center for Implementation?
2) What unique assets would you bring to the team?
3) If you could work on a project where you had the chance to learn about and use any theory, model, or framework, which one would you pick and why?
Deadline to apply is August 6, 2019
