Year in Review: 2023
Looking back
2023 was our biggest year yet. We connected with thousands of changemakers, worked on exciting initiatives in new fields, designed more training opportunities, developed innovative tools, and delivered so many workshops that we couldn’t keep count!
Here are some of the major highlights of this past year.
📍 Prioritized equity
As a follow-up to our highly attended 2021 event, we hosted Practical Guidance for Embodying Equity in Implementation Part II to ignite conversations, foster reflection, and inspire action towards more inclusive and just practices.
We also released our updated set of equity guiding questions (which has been accessed 2500+ times!).

Added new TCI affiliates to support us in supporting you
When we look back on 2023, we see how much TCI has grown in so many ways. Our small team is the largest it’s ever been, we’ve added even more skills to the TCI team toolkit, and we’ve continued our commitment to thinking deeply about implementation practice.
Reaching these great milestones means we’re making progress in helping you change the world.
Looking ahead
We’ve been making great progress towards our vision of seeing millions of changemakers worldwide actively applying best practices in implementation science to their initiatives and we’re looking forward to big things coming up in 2024.
Based on what we’ve been hearing in the field and in conversation with the different groups and individuals we support, some key themes have emerged: We see 2024 as the year of adaptations, context, and relationships.
Because our superpower is making implementation science practical and accessible, in 2024 we’re focusing specifically on developing ultra-pragmatic tools and resources to respond to the deep demand for support in these areas.
Here are the tools and resources we’re working on (and can’t wait to release!):
The Cultiv8 tool, an interactive collection of actionable strategies to help you build trusting relationships and navigate power dynamics effectively
Core Competencies for Implementation Support Professionals, a refined version of our previous core competencies released in 2019, based on other competencies developed since then and questions we’ve received from implementation support practitioners
Map2Adapt tool, an interactive guided tour through the process of making adaptations: assessing the need for them, developing adaptations plans, and assessing their potential impacts
Context Compass Framework and tool, an updated version based on user testing, designed to help you navigate contextual barriers and facilitators
Hidden Curriculum: Igniting Change From The Middle, our new Level 2 online course that shares the secret ingredients of supporting implementation
Overall, our small and mighty team looks forward to helping you make a big impact in the system in 2024 by continuing to support you through our online training, services, and events. We believe that providing access to high-quality and actionable materials can be transformative for change.
Thank you for including us on your implementation journey. All of us at TCI wish you a great year ahead!
