COM-B

The Capability, Opportunity, Motivation - Behavior (COM-B) theory is an individual-level theory of behavior change. It states that in order for people to change:

  • They need to be capable of change (e.g., have the knowledge and skills).

  • They need to have the opportunity to change (e.g., be in an environment that supports change).

  • They need to be motivated to change.
